[W]we are living in a scale model, and the scale of the model shrinks progressively with depth, just like a museum diorama, or a theatre set. And at the back plane the scale shrinks to zero, at least in the depth dimension, where everything beyond a certain distance appears flat, as if painted on the dome of the sky. But it only looks that way. Its an illusion. We know that the world isn’t really warped like that. Source: http://cns-alumni.bu.edu/~slehar/cartoonepist/cartoonepist12.html
